“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” Mary Lou Cook
Outside of the traditional curriculum, we know how important it is for students to have access to a broad range of creative subjects and The Arts. Therefore, at King’s we place these pursuits at the heart of our school.
Music plays an important part of life at King’s through a unique partnership with Bolton Music Service we are able to offer an exciting musical experience through a student’s life at school. Every child receives 1 hour of practical music tuition on their choice of instrument each week from years 7-10 (optional in Year 11), every child studying music GCSE also gets 1-2-1 lessons paid for by the school. Alongside this every child in Year 7 & 8 has a weekly choir session, alongside weekly music theory lessons and Years 9-11 are offered the opportunity to join our School Choir.
All students at King’s get ample opportunities to express their creativity through Art & Design. In class, alongside technical skills, students get to experience a vast array of different cultures and societies through this subject. We are proud that our school is full of our students' wonderful art-work on every corridor.
It is on the sports field that students really get to demonstrate the full ASPIRE values. King's participation in sports during lessons and after school is highly valued and we seek to give students, regardless of gender, a full range of sporting experiences. We look forward to moving to our new site in September 2023 with our state of the art sports facilities including a double sports hall, dance studio, outside running track, two full size sports pitches and a large all-weather pitch.
The Performing Arts are growing at King’s and we are excited to be putting on our first full production of DNA in the Autumn term. We know students gain so much through the study of theatre and all forms of performance and our new site will contain some amazing facilities to cater for this.
At King’s students get to experience a full range of extra-curricular activities, the full list can be found in the Parent Handbook. All students are expected to attend 2 sessions per week, one sporting and one academic.
