What our Year 11 students had to say about moving into our new building

Ariana Khan, 15

St Pauls C of E Primary School

Student body Prime Minister, Ariana Khan commented that the new building feels so much bigger that the temporary accommodation students have studied in from Year 7, “it feels exciting to finally be in our school building, although it will take some time to get used to where everything is”.

Miada Shalott, 16

Gilnow Primary School

Student body Prime Minister, Miada Shalott, 16 is looking forward to having the opportunity to participate in shaping some of the outdoor space on the new school site as part of the schools new and improved enrichment programme. She said, “Students will be able to plant bulbs and seeds as part of a gardening club now that we have the outdoor space available. This is something Student Parliament have wanted since I was in Year 9”.

Shehzad Patel, 15

Brandwood Primary School

Shehzad Patel, 15 is most looking forward to getting into the science laboratories to undertake some science practical’s and experiments. Since joining King’s Leadership Academy Bolton, Shahzad has found a passion for the sciences, with a particular focus on biology, inspired by teacher, Miss Ibberson, who he said “goes above and beyond” in her lessons to inspire her students. Shehzad says that even stretched to careers advise when he wanted to look at university options to pursue a career in medicine. “Miss Ibberson talked me through all of the options available to me to follow a career into medicine after I complete my GCSEs at King’s. My aim now is to study at the University of Cambridge or Royal College”.

Shaun Simmons, 15

Lever Edge Primary School

Shaun Simmons, 15 who is passionate about history and aspires to attend an Oxbridge university said that it was “a relief to finally be in the new school” since being a student at the school from Year 7. “It is great to have access to all of the new facilities”, he added.

Jessica Bridge, 16

Heathfield Primary School

Year 11 prefect and keen singer and pianist, Jessica Bridge is especially excited to be able to take advantage of the new music facilities and practise rooms. Jessica also hopes to take on some additional responsibilities within the new school as part of her prefect role, such as ensuring the school library is kept clean, tidy and in order.

Emily Farrell, 16

St Bedes CofE Primary Academy

Year 11 prefect, Emily Farrell who has applied for a place at Winstanley College and hopes to pursue a career as a musician or music teacher having been inspired by her Dad’s love of piano is “thrilled to have more music facilities and practise rooms” in the new school. Emily said “I am so pleased to be in the new school now, it is a really exciting time for us all!”.
